Axe Throwing Event 2019
Last week, the OXA held its first ever axe throwing event. Approx. 40 members and their guests arrived at BATL Axe Throwing on Lancaster Road to participate in the event.
After signing in, participants enjoyed a delicious hot and cold sandwich buffet provided by Ottawa Events Catering while also practicing their axe throwing. During the tournament portion of the evening, each person threw several rounds against their fellow competitors until there were only two competitors left. The final showdown to determine the champion saw Jason Applejohn of the green team, throwing against Paz Blundell of the purple team.

Annual Golf Event 2018
Over fifty golfers came out to take part in this year’s Nine & Dine event at Anderson Links Golf & Country Club. The day started with a BBQ lunch at noon before golfers heading out to the course for a 1 PM shotgun start. After their golf game members and their guests enjoyed a delicious chicken & rib dinner. A great time was had by everyone who attended!

Last week was the Annual President’s Summer Social. This year’s event was hosted by President François Beauvais and his wife Jennifer Ferrari at Sterling Steakhouse & Seafood in Gatineau.

Annual Christmas Event
This year’s Christmas event was a huge success. It was our biggest turn out for this annual event in a number of years. Member firm, Sala San Marco was the location for this year’s exciting event. Helping to enhance the evening, Cartier Place Suite Hotel hosted a meet and greet in their penthouse prior to event for members and their guests and Elite Limousine provided a shuttle bus to and from the hotel.

2017 Annual Golf Tournament
This year’s annual tournament was held at Anderson Links Golf & Country Club. Forty golfers started their day with a hearty breakfast before heading out for a great day of golf. Participants took part in several on course events including hole-in-ones and a Beat the Pro prior to heading in for a delicious chicken and rib BBQ lunch and prizes.

President’s Summer Social Event
This year’s Annual President’s Summer Social event was hosted by President Simon Wood. The location for the event, the Barley Mow Pub on Bank St., holds a special place in Simon’s heart as it is situated right across for the street from where he held his first job. Approx. 50 attendees enjoyed and evening of hors d’oeuvres, a 3 course dinner and music while mingling and making connections.

Annual Bowling Event
Once again the OXA’s Sports & Social Committee put on a fantastic Bowling Event. This year’s annual event was held at Merivale Bowling Lanes and saw another great turnout. Approx. 40 participants took part in the Rock ‘n Bowl fun followed by a delicious buffet meal and trophy presentations.

Member Recruitment Event
In spite of the snowy weather, approx. 30 members and their potential member guests attended this intimate networking event at Cartier Place Suite Hotel. Current OXA members Graham Young and Ann Freel shared some of their experiences during their time with the association as well as many of the benefits that come with being a member.

Annual Golf Tournament 2016
On Thursday, August 25, the OXA held their Annual Golf Tournament at Emerald Links Golf & Country Club.
The rain forecast for the day finished up early so everyone was able to enjoy a great event. Participants arrived at the course for the 11:30am registration and then enjoyed a tasty BBQ lunch before heading out on the course for a 1:00pm shotgun start.
Forty-eight golfers came out to take participate in the fun on the course despite the heat and humidity. This year’s event had participants trying to snag the seemingly elusive hole-in-one at not only one, but two holes on the challenging course.
After golf, everyone returned to the clubhouse for appetizers, networking, a delicious chicken and rib dinner and lots of prizes.
This year’s event was another overwhelming success thanks to our sponsors, prize donors and participants.
